Boxerbook for developers and AI agents

Free, read-only boxing data with no key: the schedule with start times (UTC) and broadcasters, results with sources, boxer cards with the record going into each bout, the Boxerbook rating, forecasts and market consensus. Two doors to the same data: an MCP server for AI assistants and an open JSON API.

MCP server

Endpoint: https://mcp.boxerbook.com/mcp (Streamable HTTP, stateless, no sign-in).

Claude Code:

Claude Desktop and claude.ai: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, URL https://mcp.boxerbook.com/mcp, no key.

ChatGPT: Settings → Connectors → Create with the same URL (the server has the search and fetch tools connectors need), or a GPT Action from /v1/openapi.json.

Every answer is JSON with attribution and as_of (UTC), Cache-Control: public, max-age=60, an ETag and CORS *.

Limits

Per IP: 60 requests per minute for the JSON API, 300 tool calls per minute for MCP (initialize, listing tools and prompts are not counted; a batch holds at most 5 messages). Point lookups only: limit up to 50, offset up to 1000, search up to 20 matches, results up to 14 days, schedule up to 30 days. Need more? Write to info@boxerbook.com.

Errors

API errors are application/problem+json (RFC 9457) with type, title, status and detail; type links here.

400 Invalid parameter: A parameter is out of range or malformed (when, days, country, division, limit, publisher, q). The detail says which; fix the request, do not retry it as is.
404 Not found: No such endpoint, boxer, bout, event or division. Find ids with /v1/boxers/search or the MCP search tool.
405 Method not allowed: The API is read only: use GET (MCP: POST to /mcp).
429 Too many requests: Over 60 API requests (or 300 MCP tool calls) per minute from your IP. Wait for Retry-After (60 s); MCP answers HTTP 429 with JSON-RPC error -32000.
500 Internal error: A bug on our side; it is logged. Retry later or write to us.
503 Service busy: The database is busy; retry after Retry-After (60 s).

MCP uses JSON-RPC codes: -32700 invalid JSON, -32600 invalid request, -32601 unknown method, -32602 invalid arguments, -32000 rate limit or wrong HTTP method. A tool that finds nothing answers a result with isError: true.
