This is Ingram's second fight in 43 days. Ingram had never fought past the sixth round before this bout. Ingram has a perfect professional record of 12 fights and 12 victories. Ingram was a big time high school football player. Ingram's parents never let him box when he was younger. Ingram has only been fighting for three or four years with only eight amateur fights. This is Ingram's ninth straight fight in Orlando. Ingram started his amateur career at 22 or 23 instead of 17 or 18. Ingram has only fought six rounds before and never seen the seven in a professional fight. Ingram is 26 years old. Ingram has only a couple years of fighting experience. Ingram still has not lost a fight.

Gomez's nickname is 'the jewel' or 'la joya', which came from his family calling him that when he was an amateur. Gomez traveled to Guatemala and then walked to the United States across the border. Gomez always dreamed of coming to the United States and being a professional fighter. Gomez said he watched no tape on Ingram but knows he will knock him out. Gomez has nearly 250 amateur fights. Gomez has seven of his nine wins by knockout. Gomez is described as the more tired fighter with less punch output. Gomez received a couple of warnings and one point was taken away.
