Cuesta is the daughter of professional boxer Chico Valenzuela who scored a knockdown against Oscar De La Hoya in 1993. The referee ruled the cut as caused by a punch, meaning if the fight is stopped due to the cut, it would be a knockout win for Lozada. An accidental clash of heads occurred between the fighters, causing a cut on Cuesta. Another clash of heads occurred during the fight with Lozada getting the worst of it. Lozada is clearly up on the scorecards with two rounds left in the fight. The referee was being verbal about holding but not deducting points, unlike in a previous fight where two points were deducted for holding.
